Before you know it, we’ll be smack dab in the middle of road
trip season. For many, a long summer drive sounds like a thrilling
adventure. But for those prone to car sickness, a road trip can turn
into a nightmare. Here are a few tips for avoiding that dizzy, nauseous
feeling:
–Sit in the front seat (or maybe do the driving for a little while)
–Crack a window (fresh air helps some avoid nausea)
–Close your eyes (if you can’t see anything, you won’t get motion sickness)
–Avoid focusing your eyes on one particular thing (like a card game or a book)
If you keep these handy tips in mind, you should be able to get out
and enjoy the open road with ease.
Memorial Day weekend is kind of like the shotgun start of summer,
isn’t it? You’ll probably go to a BBQ or some other outdoor activity to
enjoy the sunshine and ring in the sizzling months to come. It’s time
to kick back, let your hair down, and have some fun–just make sure your
car doesn’t leave the party without you.
- If you are going to drink, don’t drive. We’re not talking about
avoiding a DUI—that should be a given. Many people this weekend will
head out to a BBQ with the plan to leave their car overnight and cab it
home. Don’t do it!
- Don’t assume that the shrubby corner of the neighborhood is the safe
place to park your car. We know it’s hot, but don’t sacrifice safety
for shade! Always park in a well-lit area; ideally one that’s easily
visible from a distance.
- Double check that your doors are locked and never keep your
spare key in or near your car. In that same line of thought, don’t
store anything of value in it. That includes your trunk! Car insurance
won’t cover these items if they are stolen.
- Think about installing a GPS system. If the worst ends up happening
and your vehicle is stolen, you can track it down before it’s too late.
Want to lower your chances of getting into a car accident? Stop grooming
behind the wheel. Men, no more electric shaving! Ladies, put the
makeup down. Driving with these types of distractions, along with eating
or using your cell phone significantly increases your chances of
getting into an accident. Finish grooming before you leave the house– because it’s never worth the risk.

Materials needed:
-Stir stick
-Water-based latex paint (color of your choice)
-Large plastic storage bin
-Woven basket
-Foam paintbrush
Stir paint thoroughly and pour into a plastic bin. Carefully dip your basket into the paint. Work slowly; as you dip, the paint will push up the sides of the basket. Once you've reached the desired line, slowly pull the basket out of paint.
If you want a higher line than the dipped mark, use a foam brush to paint a new line. Hang the basket to dry completely. Make sure to show us your finished product!
