Tips to Save Money on Fuel
1. We all know that quick starts consume a lot of fuel. But, when you
accelerate at a snail’s pace, the car stays in a low gear, which also
has poor fuel economy. A good rule of thumb is to spend 15 seconds getting to 50 mph.
2. Keeping your car clean has more than an aesthetic benefit. Removing 100 pounds of junk from your car’s trunk could increase fuel efficiency by up to 2 percent!
3. Maintenance is equally important. Adjusting the pressure of your tires once a month can increase a car’s fuel efficiency by up to 3 percent. And, don’t forget to check the gas cap! Damaged, loose or missing gas caps can let the gas vaporize into the air.
4. Don’t only look at the car immediately in front of you; try looking farther down the road. This will help you anticipate potential danger situations and allow you to reduce your speed by coasting to a stop rather than slamming on your brakes. Doing so causes a loss of momentum that increases the amount of fuel you burn at a given time. Except for in an emergency situation, this hard stop-and-go action should be avoided.

Every Mile is a Data Point
Mazda’s SKYACTIV
Technology helped its all-new Clean Diesel-powered sports racing
Prototype go wheel-to-wheel with some of the world’s fastest sports cars
at Daytona International Speedway, as they tackled the grueling demands
of the 52nd Rolex 24 at Daytona. The car is within 10 percent of the
leaders on pace and has a 35-percent
advantage in range due to the efficiency of the SKYACTIV-D engine. The
car also has a high “clean factor,” using a renewable synthetic diesel
fuel supplied by Dynamic Fuels.

White Elephant Gift Exchange
White
Elephant is a lighthearted and fun way to exchange gifts with family or
friends during the holidays. Here are a few guidelines we came up with
to set up your own White Elephant exchange.
1. Set the rules for the exchange. Is this a re-gift party or should they buy something new? How much can they spend?
2. Be secretive about your gift. The idea is for people to not know who the gift is coming from.
4. Write out consecutive numbers on small pieces of paper. Make numbers for however many people are participating in the gift exchange. For example, if there are 15 people participating, write out the numbers 1 through 15 on small pieces of paper, fold them, and throw them into a small bowl or bag.
5. Have everyone draw a number. The number will signify the order in which they choose a gift.
6. Have the next person choose whether they want to steal a previously-opened gift or choose an unopened gift from the gift box. A person who has his/her gift stolen from them gets to either steal a gift from someone else or choose a replacement gift from the gift box. You cannot immediately steal back the gift that was stolen from you. You must wait at least one round before stealing back a gift that was once in your possession. A gift cannot be stolen more than once a turn.
7. Repeat in order of number. The person with the next-highest number either chooses a gift from the gift box or steals a gift from someone else. People who have gifts stolen can choose a gift out of the gift box or steal items that have not yet been stolen that round.
8. Have fun!
