Just because gas prices have skyrocketed it doesn’t mean that we need to drive less. Although we cannot control the gas prices, we can control how much gas we use while we are driving. Follow these 8 steps to see your MPG greatly improve!

  1. Keep your car properly tuned – MPG increases by 4%
  2. Keep tires properly inflated – MPG increases by 3%
  3. Replace dirty or clogged air filters – MPG increases by up to 14%
  4. Replace dirty spark plugs – Get up to 2 MPG more
  5. Change oil regularly – Another 1 MPG
  6. Observe the speed limit – MPG decreases rapidly above 60 mph
  7. Avoid quick starts and stops – MPG increases up to 33% on the highway and 5% in the city
  8. Don’t haul unneeded items in the trunk – An extra 100 pounds will decrease you MPG from 1%-2%
